'Er Indoors (whom I'm not sure whether to now refer to as "Mrs Skytower" on here, but we'll think about it) was bold enough to state the other day that she has no problems reading maps – she just chooses not too. This is despite many days out we've had where I've had to pretty much guess my way around due to 'Er struggling to find which page we're on, let alone any road numbers.
Well, I think I've found the solution:

Could be a winner.

my other half has problems with map reading, so thats why we got a sat nav, which dose work very well i must say now ive got used to how it works, it cuts out all the stress of me shouting at her cos she cant or cant be arsed to find where we are even after i have shown her where and then i ask her what road we need next and so on,
all i have to do now ia look at the sat nav’s screen and hey oh i know where iam and where i have to go next and if there is a road block or a traffic jam i can take another direction and after a few mins of the sat nav trying to send me back onto the main road we were just on it dose a new route and its all sorted so all good

Nope – still can’t get on with them. I had the use of Pete’s satnav unit on Monday, so thought I’d give it a go at navigating between Spurn Point and Hornsea. Apart from, on three occasions, telling me to turn when there was no need to turn, it also managed to send me the wrong way by not being able to identify a junction properly.
I wasn’t convinced by them before, and I’m even less convinced now.

I like the old man touch – like you can use a person as a landmark.
