Plans

"Let's make some plans so they can go wrong".
So sang the Close Lobsters (as I'm sure I've mentioned before). Yes, it's that time of the year where loads of people make loads of resolutions to change loads of things about their lives. And loads of people tend to make loads of effort to keep them. So much so that most resolutions last a matter of a few days. Back to normal, then…
I've given up making resolutions. If I'm honest, the temptation to break them is all too easy, plus it's too much like traditional bollocks, something which I'm raplidly becoming distanced from. So, instead, I make plans…
This year's plans already in the development stage include doing what I failed to do during 2006 – namely, having a day out per month. Those with good memories may recall this plan going oh so well for eleven months of that year, only to fail at the final hurdle and omit December. If at first you don't succeed, try again… this year.
Secondly, on a similar note, the holiday plan is to walk the circumference of the Isle of Wight. It supposedly takes around five days to do, but given that it's meant to be a holiday (and therefore chill-out time is essential), I'll look to extend that to ten or maybe fourteen days. Hopefully the back-end of June will see that plan take place.
Other plans generally continue things from the back-end of last year, such as staying positive, looking ahead, working regularly, and the like. 2007's done and dusted, so constantly looking back isn't really an option (even though it is sometimes unavoidable). Oh, and having more fun. That's almost a given; the last few months haven't been the happiest ever, so making sure that life is as enjoyable as possible is certainly high on the list of priorities.
If you're making your own resolutions (foolish people that you may be), I wish you luck. Just make sure that each of the 366 days of 2008 count.
